About Optical Scientific

Founded in 1985, Optical Scientific, Inc. (OSI) is a world leading developer and manufacturer of optical scintillation-based sensors used for monitoring precipitation, present weather, visibility, air/gas flow, crosswinds and atmospheric turbulence.

OSi has executed over 30 optical sensing projects since 1985 and has pooled its resources to assemble a uniquely qualified team with all the requisite support skills.

We specialize in developing highly accurate sensors. Our optical weather sensors have over 800 million filed hours built into the algorithm and have been deployed in airports, highways, railroads, maritime operations and were used by NASA to calibrate their space born radar systems.

Our OFS series (Optical Flow Sensor) was developed in the year 2000 to help monitor stack gas flow at power plants for EPA 40 CFR Part 75 compliance. Truly a versatile technology when it comes to monitoring velocity, OFS technology has proven successful in a variety of challenging applications that include high temperatures, high and variable opacity and dust concentrations, including Flare Stacks, Thermal Oxidizers, wet scrubbers, incinerators, primary/secondary air ducts, bag houses or similar processes with entrained / suspended liquid droplets.

Our precision optical instruments are trusted by NASA, National Weather Service, NOAA, EPA and many other government and industries worldwide.

From Optical Flow Sensors to precision Optical Weather identifiers OSI’s sensor technology offers reliable, real-time data, enhancing operational safety and efficiency in many applications. OSI’s optical sensor technology can help industries optimize performance and ensure safety and compliance with environmental regulations.

At Optical Scientific, Inc. (OSI), we are committed to providing comprehensive sensor solutions with a focus on innovation and quality. Our advanced optical flow sensor technology and weather monitoring solutions are designed to address the complex challenges of modern industries, making OSI a global leader in optical sensor technology.
